Again, I have no problem with government programs that help those who really need it. Not to once again belabor the f***ing obvious, but the U.S. currently has government health care programs that spend hundreds of billions on exactly this every single year.
The people pushing this agenda--as they have been for many years--have one goal: A health care monopoly by the government. They've said so, on record, and also said--on record--that intermediate programs like the "public choice" canard are just steps to that goal. They don't want to live with private alternatives, they want them ground under.
Can't anyone understand that it's power and control that are the issues?
If the government made a law demanding that we all drive the same model of car, is there anyone still out there who sees that the real issue wouldn't be how nice or how lousy the car is?
Back when the Space Shuttle was All That and a Bag of Chips, the government decided it would just scrap all the other launch vehicles and make the Shuttle the National Launch Vehicle. You saw how that worked out. But that's what governments DO. All of them. They accumulate power, then look for more power to accumulate. The system selects for people who think like this, and selects against people who don't.
You think they'll stop when the health industry has been absorbed? They have a long list of things in our lives that they consider "too important to leave to the private sector." Catch a "progressive" politician when he or she is talking to their pals and they aren't subtle about it.
I've seen countries where the government runs everything. So has everyone else. I don't know how much of one's brain you have to scoop out with a melon baller to overlook the history of centralized control of a nation's economy.
I do not want to turn my life over to the congenital idiots--both parties--who run Washington. The health care issue is just one of several. I don't care how much chocolate and whipped cream they spread on turds like this.
