The average American seeking reasonably priced health care has much, much more to fear from the private healthcare insurance companies than from any government bureaucrats.
If so, it would be a first. I've been screwed by private companies, and I just ditched them and went to someone else. You can't do that with the government.
If Republicans are capable of "debating with facts" then why are they sponsoring the lies and distortions about "death panels", and making absolutely ridiculous analogies to the Nazis' program of offing undesirables in society?? That's beyond irresponsible.
There has been a lot of reasoned analysis out there. CBO reports, detailed treatments of the House bill, and reasoned analysis of the underlying issues of freedom versus control, and costs. Democratic politicians and their allies are holding the spotlight away from this information and exactly where they want it to be (how many people still think the conservatives and Republicans haven't come up with any ideas of their own?)
Democratic politicos can handle demagoguery pretty well. They just can't think worth beans.
The Democrats tried another grab at control of a large section of the economy, and got nailed on it. Again. All they're doing now is dancing.
