Tom, if your community is creeping into collectivism, then do something about it, but don't come here and bore us to tears with it every single day. Don't insist we have to listen to you whine about it and then make us watch you feed your ego by slamming us for allegedly defending the other side, and most of all, stop blaming us for it. We are under no obligation to drop everything we're doing and listen to you indulge your paranoia. You can't seem to get it through your head that just because you are obsessed about something we don't need to obsess about it too. We worry about our jobs, our health, our families, and yes, our country too, but we don't feel the need to cram it down your throat every single day.

If you were trying to plug your business here, we'd throw you out for spamming. If you were trying to convert us to your religion, we'd politely tell you to take it somewhere else. If you were constantly boosting your local sports team, we'd ignore you, and if you were proselytizing some spooky psychic paranormal nonsense, we'd eventually laugh you out of town. But somehow you think your political paranoia gives you the right to flood this board with your harangues because you are so damnned patriotic and perceptive and we collectivist cows require enlightenment by your superior intellect. Do you have any idea how patronizing that is? What an elitist attitude that reveals? Who died and appointed you our tough love political commissar? A lot of other conservatives contribute here, they range from the benign to the obnoxious, but you are the only one to have assumed the right to make this a purely political forum. And to brag that this appalling lack of courtesy is a direct result of your engineering training offends me, as a scientist.

No matter how we tell this to you, you just don't get it do you? We are not opposed to your politics, or even that you want to talk about them. We conceded a long time ago the Bolsheviks were not nice people. And we promise you, we're not them. What steams us is that you want to talk about it ALL THE FUCKING TIME, you give us no rest, you never stop, and if we have the temerity to object, you call us communist stooges and tell us for the thousandth time how awful things were in Russia after the revolution, and how if we fear global warming, favor national health, or support higher taxes or regulation of business then we are no better than they are. What's your solution, round us up into camps for political re-education? Why bother, you're already giving it to us here.

Let me put it another way. Your catalogue of political liberties and freedoms does not seem to include the right to expect common courtesy from others. It's not your beliefs that annoy us, its your total lack of manners.

PS I have no obligation to endure the smell of your fireplace, nor do I feel I have the constitutional right to inflict the stink of mine on you. What you do in your house is your business. What you do to the air I have to breathe becomes mine.
