You see, the evil capitalist wants to charge as much as he can for his product. The problem is, not everyone can afford the price he’d like to charge. He stands to lose a lot of money because only a small number of people can afford his widget. So what does he do? He offers different models of the same widget.
A side-by-side stainless steel refrigerator doesn’t cost that much more to manufacture than an aluminum clad, freezer-on-the-top, white enamel one. Now he can charge the yuppies a fortune for their status symbol while retaining all those customers who just want to keep their food cold.
It’s absolutely brilliant.
