The average consumer can't read. At least not educational type items on meds and such. The average consumer is a ready target to be preyed upon.
Every so often there will be horror stories about some herbal product killing people. Which is bullshit. OVERUSE and WRONG use of herbs can kill people if you get some potent herbs and an uninformed consumer. Take ephedra, for example. When it was still a legal herb, I used to mix a tiny pinch with some other herbs and drink. It solved my asthma problem and got me off an inhaler. That was 20 years ago. Now I'm back on an inhaler and could use that ephedra but assholes marketed it for things it shouldn't have been used for and then uninformed consumers doubled their doses, figuring it was an herb and so what could it matter... Ephedra is potent and I knew that and never even had so much as a rapid heart beat because I researched it before using. Plus, I had a Native American herbalist to advise me.
And that is your average consumer, hell bent on self-destruction.
Information is useless if not read and understood.
