What we have not become
Despite the fears of a Republican Reich, we seem to be holding up okay in protecting our liberties.
A reasonably fair article, considering it's the Post. Note that there are people from all across the political spectrum resisting centralized government power, although I wonder if the Left would be so obstructionist if they were the ones in charge. Note also that Europe, which is constantly lecturing us, has set up far more draconian intrustions on the liberty and privacy of their citizens.
The balance between security and loss of freedom is not an easy one to negotiate. If we have to guess, I would say that erring on the side of liberty is probably the best choice.
