Just out of curiosity, why is everyone accepting the account of the incident given by these three men to reporters, while the woman is assumed to be lying, and the police are assumed to have been abusive, just because they say so?

Not that I know one way or the other, but I'm just curious as to why the CNN story is assumed to be gospel.
