Well, if I were cynical, I would say the guys with the money are already running the show, since we enthusiastically created a government with nearly absolute power over the economic sector, and the corporations and wealthy, either for reasons of greed and power, or reasons of self-defense, are pumping money into the system hand over fist.
You might be right about my idea, but the current system, where fifty poor guys and one rich guy get to decide what to do with the rich guy's money, is not going to work for very long either.
The solution that would certainly work would be the separation of economics and the state for pretty much the same reason as separation of church and state. Eliminate the reasons anyone would need to bribe the government, and eliminate the concept of forced wealth redistribution entirely.
But that's a lot of political power lost, both on the part of the government and the corporations hoping to pull the strings, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this one.
If you have any other ideas that would prevent the collapse of America into a predatory bread-and-circuses orgy of wealth transfer, I'd love to hear them.
