The US has no more business on any Human Rights committee, except maybe how to violate them, since GWB than any other country. It's record is foul.
When one consideres the treatment of Native Americans, or the South during the Civil War, or slavery, the US is on flimsy ground being critical of other nations during their unifications.
Sherman's March to the Sea was deliberate terrorism practiced against the civilian population after the war was clearly won. Sort of like the firebombing in WWII.
The Bible asking how one can criticize the speck in his brother's eye while ignoring the log in one's own comes to mind. I've never heard an appropriate, right-wing, Christian response to that. I'll be curious to know what it is.
Then, to ask what the UN has done, and discount what the UN has done seems intellectually dishonest. I'd need an explanation as to how that is constructive.
When one hangs out on the right-wing blogs, the Samzidat stuff, one can only come away with a really smelly moustache.
Obviously.
