Don't forget the forgotten George McGovern who flew B-24's during WWII. And he was the democratic nominee for the 1972 elections against Nixon.

The phrase in the article is reprehensible and shows the obvious bias of the author and possibly the editors. The Gaurdian should make a correction. I doubt we'll see one.
