If you want a place for people to get together and talk at each other to no real purpose, or maybe even to do humanitarian work, or discuss science, the U.N. is fine.
If you want something that takes on some of the powers of a government, including courts, regulating sovereign nations, and enforcing international laws by armed force, you no longer have the luxury of allowing criminal nations to take part.
The foundation of any effective government for free people is a set of solid philosophical principles, including but not limited to a respect for individual rights.
To have totalitarian governments involved in any international governing body negates the entire purpose of such a body.
We don't like convicted felons in our government, Nazis as court judges, or gangsters running the police departments either.
