Did you even read the article?

It isn't just moral equivalence. Marxism is a "protected species" in the popular and educational culture in America, and especially Europe.

Pol Pot learned his philosophy at a university in Paris. He isn't the only one who picked up the idea of humans as disposable cogs in the machine of the state in an academic environment.

I consider having this philosophy comfortably parked in our educational system, at one level or another, to be a serious problem. Obviously, nobody else here does.

The Holocaust is indeed a special and unique catastrophe. Never had an argument with that. Does this warrant shoving under the rug the Ukrainian famine, the gulags, the Cultural Revolution, the extermination of a third of the population of Cambodia, the execution of millions around the world by less "special" methods than death camps, and the enslavement of much of the world?

Don't know why this particular subject chaps your ass so badly. Be interesting to find out. I worked at a university for a while, and I know damn well why this subject hits a nerve on the Left, which spent much of the first half of the twentieth century worshipping Marxism and its offshoots.

To be clear, I think legally banning any symbol is stupid, and doesn't help the real problems. But pointing out that some symbols are more equal than others makes a valid point.
