Off Topic » in reply to My thanks and my apologies

OK - I've obviously wrecked my case with my own personal reactions. You're not to blame, but you're still missing the point.

In another post in this thread, I have very clearly described an instances in which I will confront apologists for genocide, eg the Turks, or the Japanese, viz the Chinese in WW2. I am wondering if people actually read these posts. But I can't blame you , since my intense reaction was obviously personal, and of course I appreciate your kind and well-meant remarks here.

But why, WHY is it, that everyone thinks that someone must necessarily be PERSONALLY involved, to have intense reactions to murder and genocide???? This attitude, I have observed most of my life. So once again, I don't blame you for this .. it's a common attitude which however is also frustrating and misses the point: That we, as witnesses, could ALL be outraged and deeply hurt, if we are sensitive enough!!

Why must I have been personally involved to feel so outraged? Mary Ann certainly did me a kind favor with her excellent post, but on the other hand, this 'revelation' of my past does no service whatsoever to the important point I am trying to make (and which she made so well): that the Holocaust is a significant and unique 'standard bearer' for genocides in general.

JEEZ: I've explained this over and over again - Mary Ann explained it so well .. is anyone actually reading this stuff out there? .. I must have only myself to blame, for getting so het up in the first place. I laid the basis for this misunderstanding, by my own 'virulence'.

Anyway, back to your post: I am grateful that we can be back on good terms again, and please don't feel you need to 'pussyfoot on eggshells' around me in the future. Any rebuke to my behaviour from the moderator is as nothing, compared to the loss of my impartial credibility through my 'virulence' .. that was the real punishment, I now see.

Take care McFly .. best regards to Doc and the deLorean
