Larry and Tom - are you sure that's a fact?
If a college professor wrote favorable articles about Nazism, he would almost certainly find himself without a job. Why should it be any different if he'd written in favor of other ideologies that committed mass murder?
Can you name a 'college professor' who actually supports Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot? Does such a person exist? That would be incredible.
Note: this is a different question from asking: "can you name a Marxist college professor". To you, me, Tom and others it is NOT a different question, because Stalin, Mao et al WERE Marxists, and the 'pure idelogy' of Marxism cannot be separated from these criminals - ie. I agree we cannot view them merely as 'aberrations'.
HOWEVER: an important distinction is that many people who ARE Marxists DO despise Stalin and Mao, and despise their crimes - whereas NO Nazi could ever possibly view Hitler and the Holocaust as an aberration. Hitler and the Holocaust are INTEGRAL to Nazism, whereas the question of whether Stalin and Mao are separable from Marxist ideology, is still an open question.
NOTE: I agree with you and Tom: Stalin and Mao are NOT separable from Nazism! But can you understand that many people ARE Marxists and still despise Stalin? They are surely deluded and wrong in thinking their ideology will lead to anything but a dictatorship - however, they are not outright advocates of mass murder, as MUST be ANYONE professing Nazism.
Do you and Tom see this difference? And do you and Tom recognize that I basically agree with you?
And can you and Tom point to a 'college professor' who actually IS a DEFINITE apologist for Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot? .. If so, then to hell with them, and may they lose their position right away!
