Not anxious to come to Lee's defense here, but in point of fact that symbol's origin, although I don't read German and Babelfish isn't the best, ain't exactly the German equivalent of the Young Republicans.
Of course it's ridiculous to paint all anti-Nazis as communists, and frankly, I rarely hear that kind of thing from anyone who isn't at least somewhat sympathetic to the Nazis. It's as reliable a touchstone as certain phrases and ideas from the Left.
