I think I get it now

Underinformed fantasy, pure and simple. Not even science fiction -- not "hard" SF, anyway -- lacking, to date, any evidence of realistic grounding in science.

Speaking of SF, you should read some (Fafhrd and Mouser don't count). Stapeldon's Odd John, Huxley's Brave New World, Kress' Beggars In Spain, Butler's The Parable of the Sower, Bear's Darwin's Radio.

And the most unrealistic part is the impression I get that you -- by "you" I mean the amorphous collective of neo-eugenic dreamers, some of whom may be practicing geneticists -- can wave off the inevitable mass social reaction as somehow beneath those dreamt-of Übermenschen. Hence, the book selection. You might add Frankenstein to the list, too.

You (again in the collective form) might also get more traction with a categorical public disavowal of the politics and tactics of all of your philosophic forebears. So far all we've seen is Fanboy, and a lot of propagandistic bluster.

Got science?
