you forget one important thing

Both Kirk and the Klingon believe they are right and the other is wrong. However, Kirk actually IS the good guy, and the Klingons are the bad guys - especially in the original series. So Kirk was right to fight (and hate) the evil Klingons.

Your lesson is not lost on me, but there are certain evils in the world which must be fought, and I believe it is right to hate them. I'm sure you know what I mean.
