Natural selection is the greatest provider of progress.

Trying to artificially create a new species one can only use existing material. Breeding species "pure bred" often brings out their weaknesses. Mixing DNA to create a super-human is not practical or desired.

Already the genetic tampering with produce and livestock has created a danger - the danger of breeds which overpower others or have weaknesses which make them impotent and unable to naturally reproduce.

You see, Lee, even if one could create a race of superpeople and the breed overwhelmed the gene pool, leaving only this super race - what would happen to it?

It would die out, eventually. I don't think it's an accident that human evolution has created a tree with many branches. Like bees carrying pollen so cross-pollenization occurs, human-diversity is kept viable by the various races of man.

In the Nordic regions, the people are vastly taller now than the average American. Many more women are now 6'2 and men are often 6'5'. However where they may have a more universal presence of a height gene in their DNA, this does not make them superior - it just makes them tall. This type of breeding without any new material added will eventually strengthen certain genetic traits and yet weaken others. The weak ones don't show themselves immediately but if you know many Nordic folks - you also know that very many seem to suffer depression and boredom with life. The vice-havens of the Netherlands and the many red-light districts are the byproduct of a pervasive depressed/uninspired way of looking at life. "NordicWorld" would be a nightmare.

Nature, does the job. Interracial relations do not doom races. They are a necessary replenishing of diversity. Positive bias always keeps progress happening in all genetic interactions.

BALANCE. All energy always creates its own balance. When two diverse gene-pools intermix the byproduct attempts to attain balance. We are not even close to imitating nature in creating a balanced structure. Balanced structures progress - imbalanced structures retrogress.

Having a 9 feet tall, super strong, 500 year life-span, radiation resistant group of supermen and women -would, if their structures were imbalanced, eventually lead to some sort of dominant retrograde characteristics. Suddenly you're back at square one with one or more negative traits you wish didn't exist.

Nature will take us where we need to be. She is a fine steward of human evolution.

I don't expect to convince you in one post. For now, you'll just have to trust me on this one. It doesn't pan out.
