Well I never quiet said that.

I've never said that they are the "most highly-evolved human", just the most pleasing to me. My choice for genetic modification and remodeling is the Caucasian germline for one simple reason, I am a Caucasian. It's an asthetic decision on my part. I find the classic North European look to be the most attractive. I'm sure a geneticist of Asian or Hispanic stock would disagree.

As for diversity in the various Human populations, of course I know it's a result of the differing environments in which those populations arose. You are also right in suggesting that it would be foolish not to milk those groups of any genes that could be of use. I for one think we should also look to the genomes of other species for guidance in creating a new breed of man. Earth's biosphere has given us a very large inventory to pick and choose from, and I say we should use it. Many bacteria for example have very impressive mechanisms for dealing with radiation damage. Such systems could be incorporated into higher lifeforms. My idea of Homo Novus might look like an idealized Nordic on the outside, but open up the hood and you'd be looking at a whole other animal. Some might even call it Homo Chimera.
