re: My view, as a Christian who is a scientist.

To quote REB:

"Like I said, he is the boss. I may not like everything he does or says, but if I want to be in his after-life kingdom then I better do what he says."

I think that is my "problem" - I don't like being told what to do, especially by an invisible being who says it is for my own good through others, many of them from several thousand years ago.

And this is from someone who has been married for 13 years! (Looks around to see if his wife is in the room... Wheh!)

You are not the one in particular I have issues with on religion anyway. I respect your right to worship (or not) as you so chose, and it is nice to see that you didn't just blanket accept everything you were told. I just worry about all those who have had religion forced on them by people who are using it for decidely non-spiritual purposes (just another form of political/social control).

And I do toy with the idea that "God" is a being or group of beings from another universe who made our Universe either as a deliberate experiment or as a by-product of their version of the Large Hadron Collider. Since the theory goes that they would have no contact whatsoever with the universes they create, then our god would be a Deist version in the extreme sense.

Maybe every universe is "assigned" its own god. Maybe we got the crazy, cranky one with the nasty sense of humor.
