...I had no idea what I was watching. I was channel surfing and I stumbled across it, and started watching with absolutely no preconceptions or prejudices. I guess I thought it was a rerun of an old TV movie or a new soap, the girls were cute and I did recognize Captain Dekker, former skipper of the Enterprise.
After a few minutes, I started to get into it, it was a typical family drama except they had added a wrinkle to it I wasn't quite familiar with, something didn't quite fit and I couldn't put my finger on it. After about half an hour, I was totally absorbed! Acting and production values were excellent, it was quite good, actually, but something was odd about this, too. The heavy philosophical conundra, the mellerdrammer, the angst, what was wrong with these people? Suddenly it struck me. What they all really needed to resolve these weighty moral issues was just to get laid!
It wasn't til later that I realized this was not an option for them. The next day at work I asked around until I found a fan of the show, and everything was explained. I guess this is where Capt Dekker and Vger wound up, a sort of suburban limbo in a galaxy far far away, where no man has gone before.
