I haven't read Marx, or Mein Kampf, and in fact, haven't even read everything Adam Smith wrote.
At some point, theory needs to back off and observation needs to come into things.
What I know is that every nation that has imposed Marxism on itself, across a wide range of cultures, histories, languages, and other factors, has become a poverty-stricken totalitarian hellhole. No, I haven't read Marx, but when I see that a doctor has killed every one of his patients, I don't really need to see the fine print on his medical degree.
Then I'm told that what I've seen over the history of the last century isn't "real" Marxism. Fine. When a country comes up with "real" Marxism, and a free and prosperous nation results, call me. Until then, I look at North and South Korea, East and West Germany, the resource-rich USSR and resource-poor Japan and Hong Kong, along with many other examples, and draw my own conclusions.
When it comes down to it, either people own what they produce, or they don't. If they don't, then political tyranny is the inevitable result of economic tyranny, and the two cannot be separated.
