Murder is generally criminal.
And yes, since they aren't representing any state, but an ideology, we are talking about organized crime here. Sure, they have some state sponsors. We've supported some criminals ourselves, as long as they weren't Communists. Hell, we were the bosom friends of the Taliban while they were fighting the Soviets, and didn't have much to say against them (except for feminist groups) until 911.
It's very comforting to condemn one religion because it's "theirs" while finding another innocuous because it's "ours". Violent fundamentalism is the problem. It doesn't matter what the god is called.
We have our Apocalypse believers too. They support Israel because they believe that it's a sign of the End Times, and that death and destruction are good things because they hasten the return of Jesus. They support this President. I'm scared of him because he either doesn't know or doesn't care what he's doing. I'm scared of them because they do know and they do care... enough to support actions that will bring on the end of the world.
