...if the right person reads this chart they can also read 4 decades worth of US foreign policy between the lines.
Example A) Look at Iraq oil exports to the US between 1991-6. Look at the 3 years prior to the invasion of Kuwait. Now look at Venezuela for the 1991-6 time period. Figure out why Venezuela feels comfortable calling the US names?
Example B) Look at Iraq exports to the US prior and after the famous "Rumsfeld handshake".
Example C) Look at Saudi exports to the US during Ronald Reagan's 2 terms and then before and after.
Example D) Look at Mexico's exports. Look at the figures for when the first Reagan 'amnesty' was initiated for illegals and prior. Look at Bush's 'worker program' and the current export figures and figure out why such insane rhetoric as "jobs American's wont do" is spoken aloud without shrieking indignation. Look at figures prior and after passage of NAFTA.
Learn to see beyond the news to the reasons for events, policies and positions. Realize that Iraq is not in a void. It is just a part of a larger chain of alliances, policies and actions that lead to economic security.
