Excuse me, sir, but your statement is mistaken. Exposing anything to radiation does not make it radioactive. One way a non-radioactive atom can be made radioactive is to insert neutrons into it's nucleus, such as occurs in a nuclear chain reaction, or in the interiors of stars. Radioactive rays and particles only affect the electron shells of neighbouring atoms, not their nuclei.
Other ways of creating radio-isotopes include the disintegration of a radioactive atomic nuclei into other radio-isotopes, or the creation of radio-active daughter isotopes during the fission of heavy elements (already radioactive). A few radio-isotopes are formed by the collision of stable nuclei with cosmic rays from outer space, but these rays do not come from radioactive substances and they are much more energetic.

- Actually, it's a bit unusual.
