The average Joe does *not* have a friend in corporate America who, I am increasingly convinced, has very little use for talented, capable Americans. They're too expensive. What American business wants (from America) is a nation of illiterate, tv-sucking consumers who use their minimum wage to buy what they're told to buy.
The creative, capable or educated types (or any combination thereof) can be found in India and China for a fraction of what an American would want. As far as the suits are concerned, there's no downside to putting Americans out of work by off-shoring.
The remainder of this century will see a steady decline in American fortunes, for many reasons, I beleive--not the least of which is because US business is nickel-and-diming our future. To the MBAs that run this country now, nickels and dimes are more important than people.
