Obviously, it would be bizarre and maybe malicious to compare poverty in the US with say Zambia. And as I wrote, Australia has worse house prices. And yes, I believe the US rate has gone down since the 1980s - I recall a 20 percent figure quoted back then. - So, just thought my 2c worth might have some bearing on the minimum wage issue in general.
