re: I've come to think of it as "American Business"

Fairly good observations McFly.
Every business is cutting corners.
They hire managers that do, then pay them well for that bottom line.
However, when a company becomes only profit-oriented, at times quality and customer service suffers.

Even though we seem to have more things and our quality of life has improved, the foundation upon which that is built, is a lot more shaky.
I ran into a couple of nearly impossible situations through companies when I moved that should never have happened if well-trained employees were actually paying attention on the job.
And heaven forbid if you need technical assistance on a weekend!

If I have to speak with a technician 12,000 miles away for "customer service" who barely understands my language and knows less than I do,....that's cetainly not "customer service".
Anyone can read from a manual, eh?

I usually hang up and wait until Monday.
