Interesting thing re minimum wage
I recently discovered that local fast food chains are now employing kids under 16.
I doubt they would have done that if the jobs could be filled otherwise. Hence, we can draw the conclusion that no one is compelled to accept a minimum wage job
It says something about the understandable reluctance to raise the wages for a job that can be done by kids 14-15 years old.
I have never understood why so many people fail to understand that minimum wage jobs are not intended to support a family. Jobs that are intended to provide family support will pay more than minimum or they will not be filled. Jobs that cannot be filled by 14-15 year old children will command a higher wage without forcing a minimum.
