The closer you are to the border the cheaper the illegal work force becomes. When fifty or more are loitering around every Lowe's and Home Depot and competition for any work is fierce you'll find that $40 a day is common.
If our borders continue to be porous, expect that rate to go down to $30 in five years and $20 in ten as the crowds swarm from 50 to 100 to 150. If illegals are ever granted work visas expect the entire economy to come crashing down to a depression that makes 1929 appear like a warm-up act.
If I were an illegal Mexican who crossed the border illegally - and was trying to make a living I would actually hope that the US builds a wall and more effectively stems the unstopping tide of illegal border crossers - otherwise my earning power will be flushed away in just a few more years.
