A former student of podrock when 'Toynbee' was about 16...

You asked about 'favorite stories'...

Podrock was my teacher in a geology summer camp about 2 decades ago... he started posting here many years after the start of the 'zone'.... he apparently taught me well, since I referred to that summer camp and remembered enough geology details to tip him off that I had been his student... He strung this out a long time until I was discussing a story I had written that relied heavily on what I learned in that summer....

He sprung that fact on me and caught me by COMPLETE surprise- it was total chance that he stumbled on this board, since we never stayed in touch after the summer school... he is the only person on the zone, other than my brother, that I have ever actually knowingly met... I have caught a few names of people here that have been at conferences that I had been too, but always after the fact, when looking at the attendee list- I may have walked past them but never actually met them...

That odd coincidence still seems VERY unlikely to me....
