The nom de plume...

Hi Jody,

Thanks for the question, heres the rundown:

SDAI stands for Strategic Development And Implementation, SDAI is involved with identifying and solving problems and serves by Executive Order the President of the United States. It is sort of like the CIA but much smaller, and brighter, and was created by a classified executive order of Ronald Reagan back around 1986. It is primarily a literary construct that has been used from time to time in several stories published here on the zone and the web. Everyone in the organization is called an SDAI Tech and they get a numerical desgnation based upon rank. Tech1 is the equivalent of Director, Tech2 Co-Director, etcetera. It also stands for Science Development and Integration and alludes to my very real participation with that organization.

Just the smallest snapshot of tales invoking SDAI here on the HZ:

Google doesn't bring up many of them, but there were dozens more over the years. Unfortunately, I never saved the links.

In 2004, after a particularly heated debate about the merits of same-sex marriage, and after realizing how tolerance at the HZ usually only extends towards those who all think alike sharing a PC viewpoint, I limited my posting here and started my own blog. This was a lot better because there is no mechanism for hurling the quick insults, and I am able to reach a much larger audience when I choose to let loose on a topic. Spending 20-30 minutes on a post for the benefit of the three people or so at the HZ who may appreciate it, seemed a bit ridiculous. I still don't see why TB almost exclusively puts in that amount of time here to a crowd that is completely opposed to his views. I've figured out TB is the type who brings paper towels to the beach and starts to dry the sand after a wave rolls out, much to onlookers amazement and when he trims his lawn with a pair of nail scissors the whole 'hood comes out to watch...it apparently works for him and I think he gets as much satisfaction as the onlookers.

I still get in a few good posts, but now its just an exercise in writing, not so much about conversing. Which is problematic for a BBS because I find myself talking at people, not with them.

A bit more recent literary post excursions...

More than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure.
