re: Hasn't hit my mailbox yet

I agree with you Lindy, porn is a bad thing for our society. It can be devastating in a relationship, and it does send the wrong message to young men about women.

I’ll admit I like seeing the female form. I find the female form very attractive (I prefer more natural, curvy women over the Hollywood’s plastic, stick women). Nature has programmed myself, and most every other male, to be attracted to the female form. I don’t think most women realizes how visual men are.

But we are not animals. We are civilized men and we should act as such. We need to be in control of our natural urges. But it’s not easy. We are constantly hounded by half-necked women in the media daily. That does not help.

In the Islam world, they put the responsibility on the women. They make women cover up so they will not temp the men. This is wrong, as I feel it is the man’s responsibility to control his urges.

So while I don’t think it is the right of men to tell women to cover up, I also wish women wouldn’t bare so much. Somewhere in the middle there must be a happy median. Yes, it’s us men’s responsibility to control our urges, but don’t torture us. We are simple creatures.

I think it is okay for a husband to enjoy the sight of his wife’s body. For me, that is what I try to focus on, but like I said, it is not easy as we are bombarded by sexy images of women all the time.

I have a daughter who I want to protect. The thought of guys looking at her lewdly angers me.

I also have a son I want to grow up respecting women and not get an unrealistic view of them. When he hits puberty in a few years, I don’t want him going down the road of pornography to satisfy his urges. I also don’t want him sleeping around. As a teenager, I snuck my share of peeks at Playboy. But it was tame compared to what is out there today. And, of course, looking at tame stuff seems to lead to looking at not so tame stuff. When it comes to my son hitting puberty, I am not sure what to do.
