It would be very unlikely only one person would be left alive. If it was me, and hopefully my family, we would head to the woods. We have a couple of National forest an hour away. If I could, I would try to get to Arkansas where both my wife and I have family. Plus Arkansas abounds with natural resources. Most of the state is rural and forested. If we could drive there, we could be there in a few hours.
I don’t like hunting but I can if I have to. I can also fish. I am pretty good at growing fruit and vegetables. I currently have a lemon, lime, orange and peach tree. In the spring we plant all kinds of vegetables.
I would take my ax, fishing supplies and camping supplies. My brother, an avid hunter, lives about a mile from me. If he made it, we would stick together. If not, I would take his guns- sorry brother. I would try to pick up some canned and dry good, along with vegetable seeds (And a sack of potatoes to plant and grow). Robe and fire starters would be a must. MRE type meals are also handy.
We would set up camp in the woods, living off the land as much as possible and only using the canned and dry goods when necessary.
Eventually we would abandon the tents for a log cabin. After things settled down, we might scout the nearby town for survivors and goods. We might even move into one of the local small towns. If we could get enough survivors together, we could even get a small farm community up and going.
It would be tough and hard work. I would not roll over and die. I would fight for survival.
With a small community started, once things settled, groups could go out and look for important equipment. I would get as much farm equipment, and fuel to run it, stored in sheds, garages or warehouses. Also add any other important equipment. Saving Libraries would also be important for the community. Getting a radio up and running to call out for more survivors may or may not be a good idea- some might not want to call attention to a small community in a world of chaos.

- Reading your post I am certain you would not survive long
- Your scenario sounds about right

- Very logical
- I'd pack up the rifles & handguns...
- I would scourer the earth
- I'd be pretty sick from whatever killed the other 4 billion.
