Wow - you are so wrong in so many ways.
150 years ago we could have survived because we lived without technology so the loss of electricity would not have mattered much and there were so few of us. Not now.
You say most people have been 12 weeks without electricity and have not come apart? I seem to remember New Orleans superdome as being a few days at most. Could you tell me where else and remember I talking about first world societies that we live in not dwellers of the Brazilian rain forest.
Like I said – generators would be of great use until they ran out of fuel then you would have no way to get the gas out of the storage tanks. Take a look at your local gas station. It’s all raised by pumps that run on electricity. A few large tankers that already have gas in them could be used but that would soon run out as well.
As far as crops that grow themselves can you name one? Not in California. Think of the vast corn crops in the middle of the country. Even if it could grow without irrigation (most of it can) it could not be harvested without mechanical devices that run on gas and distributed without trucks that again run on gas. Even if you could distribute it how would you grind it and bake it. The local forest would last a long time because no one could cut the trees and move them where they would be of use to a population that exists ONLY because of technology.
A lousy hundred years is my point exactly. Things are different now. We would not make it (except for a few frontiers’ men like yourself I’m sure).

- Your scenario sounds about right

- Very logical
- I'd pack up the rifles & handguns...
- I would scourer the earth
- I'd be pretty sick from whatever killed the other 4 billion.

- Survival instinct is high in most of our species.
