Geez, can you hear yourself?

The gas is in the ground and it can be pumped out with the generators or manually for that matter as long as you are not set on sitting there scratching your head or laying down somewhere and dying.

My house was without electricity for nearly 2 weeks after Katrina. I had a generator so I had some relief. Many in my state were without electricy for 4-5 weeks and in NOLA, forgettaboutit.

I know people that have back yard gardens that manage to grow and get harvested without the use of a single kilowat of power.

I am hardly a frontiersman but I can assure you I would get by along with at least 75% of the population. I can't speak for you but you might do better than you think.

Take a thousand people and put them in any warm climate area and they could live out their lives comfortably by scavenging. Of course the more people you are talking about the bigger the problem and the more danger of starvation etc but if we are talking about millions of survivors then there will be recovery and your infrastructure will hopefully be restored. If not we learn to live differently we don't just die.
