Interstellar travel - by Oort cloud comet stop overs.

The Oort clouds of the Solar System and other stellar systems are expected to be so far extended that Oort clouds of nearby stars might actually intermingle, such as the Sun's with those of Alpha Centauri.
Then we might be able to get the required fuel and water for such generation long trips by making stop overs at such comets multiple times. The comets would contain water for fusion reactions and water to drink and we might also be able to generate food from the abundant organics they contain.
BTW, we have discussed on this forum before that some scientists believe based on the rate of increase in longevity that we will attain indefinitely long life times within a couple of decades.
Then these "generation" ships might actually be able to have the same explorers reach the destination that departed at the beginning.
