re: Interstellar travel

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”

- Antoine de Saint Exupéry, author of The Little Prince.

... Those last lines say it all, albeit they do not resolve the speed in which to get to where we are going. Nonetheless, it's good for up there as it is down here.

That said. Pardon me, Raoul, because I didn't find your sentiments in the article:

"People living in a confined volume all their life , live in a jail, live like within a sect with a necessary authoritarian command.

--- Ok, to some extent, isn't that the way we live here now?

"It is so unlike human's desire for freedom. That's also why it is a SF theme."

--- Not too sure about that, those travelers would have a history to go by, adhere to... let them know where they came from and where they are going.

"Those people are running away from an undesirable world but I'm afraid they won't like the world they want to reach for the same reason they left Earth. The planet is not the problem, it's what's in their mind."

--- I beg to differ, those that would leave would leave to find a new frontier. It's happened before here on Earth and the Earth nor the humans at the time were not the problem per se, so why not let those that wish to go... go for it?
