Interstellar Reconnaissance

By the time the first interstellar ships leave this system, we'll have the capability to view planets several hundred lightyears away in continent level detail. Those colonists will have a very good idea of what their new home is like. Seasons, weather patterns, geography, etc will be fairly well known in advance. After arriving in system, they'll deploy a wide array of satellites to take precise measurements and locate the best place to setup their population centers. Knowing seismic zones, important mineral concentrations, and temperate weather areas will make setting up a new home far easier than has been done in our history on this planet.

The hard part is getting their intact, everything else will be fairly easy.
