My reasonings behing my post are that if we are to physically leave the Earth it would be to reach another Earth-like sphere/planet.

It would all be for not if our bewithall would perish along the way, via mechanical or other means because once we would get to that other Earth-like planet we would not be who we were. In essence, biologically. Biologically, we could not survive to our destinatination if we would change dramatically. That's something that should be studied.

Also, something that ER pointed out is the socialogical changes. If, If we do find another Earth like planet to target on, the ship would have to encapsule a like-minded people. I do hope that we'll find many to target upon on our journey and I hope that they will cary the knowledge or ALL of our history with them.
