You'd pay a big price for your misguided attempt to improve efficiency. You'd be discarding our entire history of how we solved our problems, so we would not have the confidence to tackle any new ones, and it would also lose the record of all our failures, so we would be condemned to repeat them all over again. You would condemn the colonists to one language, one culture, one civilization, and one psychology, and it would be an artificial and arbitrary one, sterile and minimalist, incapable of adaptation and change, one devised by people who think exactly like you.
