It might make you feel better to know that I am also uncomfortable with universities offering degrees or even entire departments devoted to such PC disciplines as Women's Studies, Black Studies and other such trendy New Age artsy-fartsy pap.
I have no problem with a sociologist or historian publishing or specializing in such esoteric knowledge, or even offering a course in it. But there's not enough there to really justify it as a complete field of study, or that would lead me to believe it is a worthwhile field of research worthy of being isolated from its parent discipline and standing on its own.
As in the business fields I pointed out before, I suspect many of these curricula have more to do with ideological indoctrination than with a fundamental understanding of natural or human reality.
