...but the fact remains the rich benefit more from the society, they SHOULD pay more.
I have heard this here a dozen times. But whenever I ask anybody to actually quantify and track how a millionaire gets many times more paid "benefits" from "society" than someone who makes $25,000 a year, people dive out the windows.
Do they get special roads? Private fire departments? Their own police forces? Does the military work harder to protect them than anyone else? Do federal bank insurance organizations have to spend hundreds of times more money tracking their accounts than they do mine?
In fact, is there any public service they use ten times as much of that they don't already pay ten times as much for--and then some--in local and state property taxes and simple payment of fees to public utilities and organizations?
The fact is the rich are looted because that's where the money is, and politicians survive in the current democratic political system by redistributing the wealth of a few voters to many voters. All the high moral reasons and "social responsibility" crap are smokescreens to hide that basic truth.
We are very close to the point where nontaxpayers will begin to outnumber taxpayers, and a small minority of voters already carries most of the tax load. Obama will find this out eventually after he wrecks enough rich people.
