You missed the point.

Or have you already lost track of your original premise?

Focus on this: the proper purpose of taxation is to pay for government services and those functions proper to government. Whether or not the myriad of things the government has taken on itself as its "proper functions" actually should be, can be left aside for now.

Again: The wealthy get little or no more public benefit from their grossly increased tax rates than someone who pays little or no taxes.

Having a private jet is not a "public benefit." Or a fancy car. Or a big house. Or anything else that the wealthy pay through the nose to the private sector for.

Your personal examples further prove my point. The wealthy paid for most of your VA benefits, yet don't normally draw on them. They pay far more for entitlements than what they would get back, and if Obama succeeds in demolishing the upper limits on such taxes, or means-testing benefits, that situation would get even worse.

The core of liberal economics is forced wealth redistribution for political gain and accumulation of power. Be honest enough to deal with it.
