A good argument can be made

that as a society, we may have a duty or obligation to provide certain things including health care, but the whole innate rights thing escapes me. I understand life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as rights. Those things are innate by the fact that they exist naturally if no one acts to interfere. Things that must be paid for by others are not inherent rights.

I would like to see universal preventive health care if it can be done in a way that makes sense. Since we already provide charitable free health care for illness it should be doable by the prevention of critical illness and the cost associated with those illnesses.

In order to realize those savings, will we require by law that individuals avail themselves of preventive care and if they don't, do we imprison them, or perhaps just deny them the critical care that is already available.

In my State, free medical care, preventive and otherwise, is available for children, yet many illnesses go undiagnosed due to failure to use the services available.

It is complicated and there are many questions, not the least of which is, what do we want that we don't already have?
