I had a friend with diabetes. She couldn't get medication because she had no health insurance and was a masseuse who didn't work regularly. She didn't qualify for Medicaid, something about her family made too much money. Mind you, she didn't live with them. They wouldn't help her. So she had untreated diabetes. My sister finally found her a free clinic but she still had to buy the medication and had no money. My sister bought it for her until she moved to Texas. I don't know what happened after that.

There are a lot of stories out there like that, people falling through the cracks. There, but for the Grace of God...
