Free market fundamentalists...

...Will argue that tweaking the market will create inefficiency in outcomes. Yes, of course it will, but so what? Economic inefficiency is not always bad. Laws and regulations that tweak the market are designed to try to prevent things like monopolies, fraud, pollution, and to smooth out the many sharp edges of capitalism on society. The robber baron in his top hat will always exists, but that doesn't change the immutable law of S&D, it only changes outcomes.
