To expand on that, privatization efforts under GWB (anyone remember the town hall meetings where Bush tried to convince Ameicans that we should turn over the SS trust fund to Wall St managers?) would have INCREASED the administrative costs for the fund from the current 1% to 5%. This is truly an example of where privatization is not needed. SS is in fine shape on it's own. Medicare is another issue altogether... Thus those arguing for the status quo in healthcare are knowingly and blatantly lying.
