I think you just made my point.

Excuse the reordering...don't think it changes anything important:

"To the left lies......the mental equivalent of the retina's blind spot. A political spectrum with only one side."

Ummm, yeah. Sure.. Tom. Whatever you say. Yep...

"Is there a formal fundamentalist Christian caucus in Congress?"

Yep, its called the republican party. Last I looked they were running the durn show.

If you equate the platform of the Republican Party with hard line fundamentalist religious views, than my point about the political spectrum is demonstrated.

Even I don't claim the entire Democratic Party is hard-line socialist. Just a lot of them.

So why don't you name, say 15 socialists in positions of great political power and influence??? How about 12???

Here's a few, although only Sanders has the balls to actually call himself a socialist.

"The problem with your analogy is that the radical Left is riding high in the mainstream of our current culture. They don't run the show...not yet...but they've been getting close."

???? Where the heck do YOU live!!?

Northern California. Next question?

"Can you name a single person in public life who is a professed Nazi? Or a practicing Klansman"

David Duke, through much of the 80's was both a politico and a member of the Klan. Later, he renounced his Klansmanship... at least in public.

Do I hear two? Maybe 12? Doesn't the fact that Duke is considered a freak in the Republican Party mean anything?

"don't expect leftists to believe any of this. Most think that their socialist political beliefs are right in the moderate center,"

No, but I think the better-thought out positions of the Left SHOULD be the center. Really moderate religious conservatism is the center. Outside of NY and California, that is.

Have to largely agree on this. I think the trick is "better-thought-out" positions, which IMO leaves out a lot of current policy ideas, both on the left and the right.
