"Yep, its called the republican party. Last I looked they were running the durn show.
If you equate the platform of the Republican Party with hard line fundamentalist religious views, than my point about the political spectrum is demonstrated."
Lesson #1: Learn to recognize Sarcasm... Especially a Sarcastic version fabricated from a non-sarcastic argument. Its called mocking....
""The problem with your analogy is that the radical Left is riding high in the mainstream of our current culture. They don't run the show...not yet...but they've been getting close."
???? Where the heck do YOU live!!?
Northern California. Next question?"
Lesson#2: Learn to not generalize from local conditions to global conditions. You kind-of illustrated what I meant by: "Outside of California and NY"
""Can you name a single person in public life who is a professed Nazi? Or a practicing Klansman"
David Duke, through much of the 80's was both a politico and a member of the Klan. Later, he renounced his Klansmanship... at least in public.
Do I hear two? Maybe 12? Doesn't the fact that Duke is considered a freak in the Republican Party mean anything?"
Lesson3: when you ask a question (namely "Name one...."), and get EXACTLY the answer you demand, don't pretend like your question was not answered. It just pisses people off.
"No, but I think the better-thought out positions of the Left SHOULD be the center. Really moderate religious conservatism is the center. Outside of NY and California, that is.
Have to largely agree on this. I think the trick is "better-thought-out" positions, which IMO leaves out a lot of current policy ideas, both on the left and the right. "
Lesson 4: If you intend to meet someone half way, don't do it in the same post where you try to snap him in the nose. Its really dumb, and only will get you grilled when you actually want to play nice...
Best,
